We have recommended the JML Pet-Mitt in our monthly Mews-Letter on several occasions as one of our favourite grooming implements. Unfortunately JML stopped making them, which is why we were so pleased to discover the Zoom Groom, which works in exactly the same way.
The amazing thing about these brushes is that for the first few minutes you would be forgiven for thinking it's not working.
The long rubber studs seem to remove less hair than a normal brush and our first Pet Mitt stayed in the cupboard for quite a while after the first use.
Fortune had it, though, that several months later Rags climbed in that cupboard and pulled (amongst other things) the Pet Mitt out in a fit of mischief, so we gave it another go. The first few minutes were much the same as before, but Rags was enjoying the attention so much we carried on.
All of a sudden what I can only describe as an avalanche of fur came out. Really, more hair came out than I'd ever seen removed in one sitting - Rags actually looked like he'd been on a diet! After about 15 minutes of use his coat was really soft and he looked like he'd been to the grooming parlor.
Since then the Pet Mitt (and subsequently the Zoom Groom) have been a part of the regular grooming regime for all of our cats.
We have also discovered that the Zoom Groom is also great for removing cat hair from carpets prior to vacuum cleaning, and makes the vacuuming much more effective.
